Sandra Bullock made her first post scandal and adoption public appearance in support for the troops on Saturday night at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards.
She wowed in a knee length, form hugging leather dress with high round neck and cap sleeves.
She was there to accept the "Troops Choice" Award for Entertainer of the Year, from presenter Robert Downey, Jr. Her appearance was kept a secret from the show staff and participants.
Only members of the military were permitted to vote for the award, from anywhere in the world they were stationed, using the Spike website.
It took a long time for the spontaneous applause to die down after she appeared on stage.
"Let's be honest here, just for a moment. We're all going to be honest, right?" she asked the crowd. "Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. [improvised explosive device] explosion that became my personal life?!"
As the laughter subsided, she continued:
"No, it's okay. Because I would do it over again if it was to entertain our troops , and our extraordinary troops deserve something much more than some actress in a tight dress talking herself.
"I would sing, but you've seen enough pain in your lifetime. I would dance - I'm a pretty good dancer, but as I mentioned, the dress is pretty tight."
