Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's recent split may well be a sham engineered by the couple for publicity.
According to Radar Online, Spencer recently showed up at the Malibu beach house that Heidi rented and moved into with a friend following the split.
Spencer's unannounced visit didn't cause any tensions. Instead, the supposedly estranged couple was all smiles!
"Heidi and Spencer are obviously still on speaking terms," a source told Radar Online.
"I would be surprised if he isn't even living at the house."
The alacrity with which Heidi moved into the beach house following the split first aroused suspicions of a sham.
Heidi's rep confirmed the split to TMZ on May 28 saying, "Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls. She's tired of it and is looking for a place and wants to focus on her acting career."
Earlier Heidi tweeted "I am not Heidi Pratt, I am Heidi Montag."
